Announcement: book release date
Some of you might know that I've been writing a book about Endo Shusaku's novel Silence. Well, I'm happy to say that I've reached the point where I'm ready to publicly commit to a release date for the book.
This is a big leap for me, but candidly, I think that I will need the additional motivation provided by public accountability in order to sustain myself all the way to the book's completion. Since this is my first full length book project (although I have something shorter in the works which will be available soon), the experience has been a journey with its own unique set of mental hurdles.
However, this project has mattered to me for a long time, and I couldn't be more excited that it's finally coming together. I'm especially grateful that I have the chance to share it with others. Thank you for being here and supporting my work.
Without further ado --
If you want to learn more, you can check out the formal announcement here. You can also read more about the projected contents of the book by visiting this page.
Premium benefits at 'Reading Silence'
I've prepared some special benefits for premium subscribers over at Reading Silence. Anyone who subscribes to the annual subscription at $50 or monthly at $5 for at least 10 months will receive upon the book's release:
- A signed physical copy of the book mailed to their home
- A digital copy of the book delivered to their email inbox
- Their name in the Acknowledgements section in the book
- An invitation to the release party (see announcement for more detail)
- The satisfaction of supporting independent scholarship
With Samsara Diagnostics I aim to do rigorous independent scholarship on the internet, and this book project on Endo Shusaku's novel Silence encapsulates many of the threads which run through my work – Japanese religion and history, Christian theology, hermeneutics, epistemology, ethics, psychology, and more. I'm only human though, so sometimes my well runs a bit dry. Your support and encouragement helps keep me going, so feel free to reach out to me with any comments you might have. I especially enjoy interacting on Twitter, so don't be shy about following me or tweeting at me.
Thanks for reading, and we'll talk again soon!
